About the Project
The artwork at Belmont Village Coral Gables tells a story rooted in place, people, and purpose. Our art consultants explored the cultural, architectural, and historical influences of Coral Gables, Florida, to curate a collection that reflects not only the visual character of the city but also the rhythms and routines of daily life for those who call it home. Drawing from Mediterranean-style architecture, Cuban culture, and the area’s equestrian ties, the artwork highlights details that make this senior living community feel both distinctive and familiar. Together, these pieces form a layered narrative that resonates with residents, celebrates everyday moments, and fosters meaningful connections.

The story begins in the main lobby, where residents are greeted by a one-of-a-kind dimensional art piece. Inspired by Coral Gables’ iconic swimming pools, the sculpture features layered resin and stone-like textures that reflect the crisp blue water and sandy limestone of the area’s Mediterranean-style architecture.

Just around the corner, a gallery wall features artwork that highlights the ornate stone columns, ironwork fences, and architectural details. A custom textile piece is paired with textured plaster art, introducing warm brick tones and deep green hues reminiscent of the surrounding foliage.
This collection may remind residents of afternoons by the pool and the sound of water echoing through arched courtyards, capturing the setting’s timeless charm.

As residents move through the community, the story shifts from quiet reflection to lively connection, celebrating Coral Gables’ Cuban influence through artwork that brings vibrant color and cultural flair to the space.
Canvas art designed to resemble dominoes represents the beloved Cuban pastime, encouraging residents to gather for some friendly competition. Nearby, a custom multi-opening frame showcases the decorative fabrics and feathers used to personalize Cuban-style fedoras, expressing the wearer’s personality and style.
Framed percussion claves and a vintage concert poster capture the upbeat rhythms of Cuban music and the energy of dancing late into the night.

The narrative shifts toward equestrian-inspired artwork, highlighting the region’s long-standing love of horse racing. Vintage belt buckles and an enlarged postcard from Gulfstream Park offer a nostalgic nod to days at the track. A horse portrait, framed with metal riding bits, connects the display to the authentic tools used to guide and communicate with the horse. The art recognizes the grace and grit of South Florida’s equestrian culture, inviting residents to reminisce about riding lessons, favorite horses, or the thrill of race day.

Belmont Village Coral Gables exemplifies how thoughtful art selection can do more than enhance a space—it can tell a story. Shaped by local architecture, cultural traditions, and shared pastimes, the collection elevates the community, offering residents moments of pride, recognition, and connection.
