History Wall
Location
Tyler, Texas
The Vision
ARCH Design collaborated with CHRISTUS Health’s Mission Integration Team to create a timeline inside Bradley-Thompson Tower at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital–Tyler. The custom history wall would serve as a visual narrative for patients and visitors, recognizing the organization’s achievements over their 175-year history.
The Concept
The team conceptualized a chronological timeline of essential events in the organization’s history, enabling viewers to explore each significant milestone in sequence. The design also incorporates the company’s mission, vision, and values to align with the CHRISTUS Health brand guidelines.
Purple, their primary brand color, appears throughout the design and symbolizes sacrifice within the Catholic church, resonating with patients enduring hardships before achieving good health. Select Bible verses are paired with the organization’s values, further reflecting the brand’s essence and connecting to viewers.
Architectural Rendering
The Process
The project was constructed using non-glare acrylic with a matte finish to minimize the effects of glare from the large windows directly across the corridor. This choice improves viewer visibility and accessibility, allowing the display to be easily viewed and appreciated by all who pass by.
Curvatures are incorporated into the overall design to mirror the flowing banners found in the CHRISTUS Health logo and branding. This detail conveys a sense of motion and guides viewers along the timeline, symbolizing the organization’s progressive journey.
The Result
This 135-foot timeline illustrates more than 175 years of CHRISTUS Health’s devotion and commitment to spreading love and healing to all. The completed installation leaves space to add to the history wall and incorporate future milestones as they continue strengthening their mission and connection with the people and communities they serve.
