Title
Beloved Imagination in CMYK
Artist
Jeremy Rabus
Client
Block, Inc.
About the Artwork
“The idea of Beloved Imagination in CMYK came to me as I sought to visualize the continuance of a legacy through this storied newspaper headquarters, passed on to Block for an innovative new office serving the great city of St. Louis.
Pulitzer’s publication 100 years ago was made by an efficient, productive, and expeditious machine, delivering the news of the day promptly and reliably informing the community long before radio, fax, television, and computer networks even glimmered in sci-fi. Block’s technology likewise improves speed, efficiency, and connectivity for the millions of transactions that enable 21st-century entrepreneurs to make real the stuff of their beloved imaginations.
All eight paintings, geometric and in low relief, are installed in a cloud formation representing the ether of today’s advanced communication technology. The faceted components are presented as nodes, connected via translucent bands of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black in colorful acrylic rods.
The bands are both beams of electronic energy and a tribute to the four colors of the printed newspaper page. Each hand-built, hand-painted acrylic painting also represents a unique gem, the uncut jewel that every entrepreneur aspires to uncover within themselves.” – Jeremy Rabus
