About the Artwork

The art program for O’Quinn Medical Tower at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center supports a calming and unified atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff. Noelle Miller was one of 21 artists commissioned to create a custom piece for this expansive space.

Miller’s calming, original piece, On the Water, supports CommonSpirit Health’s dedication to creating inviting, patient-focused environments.

The artist began by setting a tranquil scene with a background of watercolor, pastel, and acrylic paint splashes. She then meticulously cut, folded, and connected thin strips of plastic and paper to produce captivating sculptural effects that mirror the natural movement of water.

The complex layers of finely cut materials give the illusion of water lilies floating across the canvas. The organic shapes and fluid design offer a meditative quality, inviting viewers to drift along with the flowers and experience a peaceful, restful moment.
