Belmont Village Senior Living Coral Gables

The art program at Belmont Village Senior Living Coral Gables was developed to ground residents in the place they call home. Selections were curated around the architectural history, cultural identity, and coastal landscape that define this area of Miami, creating an environment where residents encounter familiar references throughout their daily lives, not as decoration, but as a continuous expression of community and place.

Local landmarks serve as the program’s primary anchors, reinforcing a strong connection to the surrounding community. A three-panel dimensional installation behind the front desk evokes the Venetian Pool, a well-known Coral Gables destination, using layered resin and stone-like texture to reference its iconic blue water and limestone. A commissioned stretch-fabric piece above the fireplace reflects the color palette of the nearby Biltmore Hotel, while a mixed-media wall sculpture in the mailroom draws from the distinctive form of the historic Alhambra Water Tower. The activity room features a bold wall graphic consolidating Coral Gables’ most recognized landmarks, reinforcing the program’s geographic identity and creating a consistent visual thread across the community.

Cultural specificity was a deliberate focus throughout the collection. Enlarged vintage Florida and Cuban postage stamps, artwork celebrating Cuban music traditions, and a collage referencing fedora culture reflect the layered history that shapes life in South Florida. These selections go beyond broad regional reference, speaking to the distinct Cuban cultural identity woven into Coral Gables and providing residents with touchstones that feel personal and recognizable.

Coastal influences are carried throughout the collection. Torn paper collages, botanical prints, and imagery of local fauna reference the South Florida landscape, while rope compositions and vintage oars connect to life along the Atlantic. In the library lounge, large-scale black-and-white photographs of historic Coral Gables, including Miracle Mile and Granada Plaza, serve as shared visual reference points that encourage conversation and foster a sense of collective memory. The salon functions as a spa-like retreat within the community. Plaster mixed-media compositions with tropical palm impressions introduce a botanical element, while a display of vintage hair combs arranged on suede in an oval frame references the salon tradition.

In the memory care neighborhood, custom tactile artwork conveys everyday moments such as walks in the park and afternoons at the beach, offering a sensory layer of engagement through touch and clear, recognizable imagery.

Across the community, the artwork functions as a unified program rather than a series of individual pieces. It reinforces a sense of place, supports visual familiarity, and provides residents with consistent points of connection to the culture and landscape of Coral Gables.
