For Milwaukee Rehabilitation Hospital at Greenfield, our client wanted to infuse the vibrant colors of native flora into their art package to complement the facility’s earthy tones and decor. Using regional photography, abstract watercolor prints, dimensional wall art, and a one-of-a-kind wall sculpture, ARCH created a cohesive design inspired by the greater Milwaukee area.
In the lobby, visitors are greeted by a unique moss wall sculpture. The colors selected for the piece reflect native and regional flowering plants, such as bright orange butterfly weeds, pink bee balm, and yellow black-eyed Susans. The striking shadowbox arrangement brings the outdoors in and creates a fascinating focal point for patients and families to admire. Near the reception desk, an ombre-stained wooden art piece hangs above a picture of the famous downtown RiverWalk at night. The gradation of the sculpture echoes the reflection of the glowing city lights across the water.
The common areas and corridors feature framed architectural photography highlighting popular destinations in downtown Milwaukee. Two custom images offer a unique perspective of the city by showing the notable Milwaukee skyline with a leaf pattern overlay. The patterns depict aspen and sugar maple leaves—the region’s two most common trees. Two large woven wall sculptures add variety and texture, while abstract watercolor prints coordinate with the soft interior color palette and contribute to a calming, peaceful environment that promotes healing.
