The artwork at Monument Health Custer Hospital is a brilliant mix of local landscape photography, macro photography, and abstract imagery. Custer Hospital is one of the many Monument Health facilities to have implemented the new patient-centered design standards to ensure consistency and increased patient satisfaction across the region.
Our team selected art that would recognize and honor the diverse patient population and regional community, including works by local photographers Chris Allington, Joe Lowe, Kadek Susanto, and Zachary Wicks. The project features breathtaking images of the state’s rolling hills, national parks, and Black Hills mountain range. A large sound-absorbing acoustic panel hangs above the lobby and helps control the excess noise created in the large, open space.
The art program at Monument Health tells a story of the surrounding scenery. The artwork groupings emphasize the colors, textures, and patterns found throughout the region to resonate with a broad audience. This approach gives viewers a storyline rather than individual pieces, offering varying perspectives on nature.
