Nestled at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, Quail Park of Oro Valley offers residents luxurious independent living, assisted living, and memory care against the backdrop of Arizona’s serene desert landscape.
ARCH Design worked closely with the facility’s architecture and design firm to develop a backlit art display featuring regional nature photography, highlighting the images’ vivid colors and texture to provide stimulation for the community’s memory care residents. Harnessing the visual properties of light, illuminated art presents a uniquely eye-catching method of displaying images. In memory care environments, illuminated artwork displays are a pleasant alternative to television, creating a sense of warmth while supplementing room lighting with a soft, ambient glow.
Lighting was installed inside of a wall and printed acrylic panels were built into either side. The translucent properties of acrylic or glass allow light to pass through from behind the display, highlighting and enhancing the artwork. The result is two beautiful, gallery-style illuminated displays that residents can enjoy in the dining area or while relaxing in the adjacent sitting room.
Corridors leading to the resident apartments feature distinct color palettes to assist with wayfinding for residents. ARCH curated bold abstract artwork that accents the community’s modern interior as well as the color palettes and finishes that are seen throughout the warm, cozy setting.
We’d like to extend our appreciation to Matt Dula Photography for providing some of the images used in this portfolio.
