Our client sought artwork reflecting a connection to the nearby historic Missouri Botanical Garden (MoBot) to emphasize the healing power of nature. Additionally, they wanted to highlight the history and significance of Saint Louis University (SLU) Hospital and its legacy of care.
Artwork throughout the hospital highlights the splendor of the colorful scenery found in the nation’s oldest botanical garden. The Garden-inspired imagery energizes the interior space with its vibrant, abstract style. ARCH used softer, more peaceful hues to create an original wall graphic for the hospital’s behavioral health unit in a departure from the vivid tones. This custom mural incorporates recognizable features found in MoBot’s Japanese Garden.
ARCH was also involved in a special project featuring student artwork. Local high school students created artwork inspired by the Garden, and their originals are displayed in a prominent area of the hospital. ARCH supplied prints of these originals for the hospital patient rooms, extending the theme of the Garden’s peaceful beauty to the individual recipients of care.
To support the goal of honoring the history and legacy of SLU Hospital, ARCH also supplied a series of acrylic photographic prints depicting the longstanding former hospital building and health care team members. Designed using the University’s signature blue, these monochromatic branded elements pay tribute to SLU Hospital’s dedication to patient care over the years.
