About the Artwork
The goal for the artwork at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler was to convey the importance of faith and spirituality in a universally appealing way.
Texas artist Priscilla Robinson was commissioned to create two works of art in her signature style for the hospital’s new Bradley-Thompson Tower.
Aptly titled “Dawn” and “The Light,” the pieces are paired with inspiring Biblical passages to bring comfort and hope to the healing process.
In “Dawn,” a yellow burst of color shines through hues of blue, representing sunrise and symbolizing hope for healing that a new day brings. The message is further emphasized by the Biblical passage: “Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily…” (Isaiah 58:8).
In “The Light,” the energizing colors and strong contrast align with a quote from St. Peter Damian: “He pours light into our minds, arouses our desire and gives us strength.”
The exhibit serves as a source of comfort for those experiencing a potentially stressful medical situation and is universally appealing to all audiences.
About the Artist
Texas mixed media artist Priscilla Robinson uses vivid colors and texture combined with unconventional materials to create unique artwork inspired by the delicate beauty of nature.
As part of her creative process, Robinson produces paper from plant fibers, bringing a natural component to her work. Her vibrant creations send a message of positivity to patients and their families.
