Coordinated Color-Zones Help Differentiate Patient Pods

At SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital’s Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit, printed wall protection helps define four patient pods through a coordinated color system. Distinct palettes create visual continuity across the corridors while differentiating areas of the unit. The main entry presents the full color palette in one botanical composition before the colors appear individually within the pod areas. Printed on Aspex® wall protection, the nature-inspired imagery combines a durable surface suited to the behavioral health environment with biophilic design principles associated with stress recovery, positive distraction, and psychological comfort.
