About the Artwork

Memorial Hospital Shiloh wanted a commissioned painting to represent the local camaraderie, history, and landmarks found in Shiloh, Illinois.

The community-based artwork brings the warm colors and inviting atmosphere of Shiloh into the hospital, sharing its deep roots and local ties with patients, visitors, and staff.

Local artist Michael Anderson referenced local maps and photographs to create an accurate and familiar depiction of the area, allowing viewers to point out their favorite places where great memories were made.

Some of the popular landmarks in the painting include the iconic peppermint candy water tower, Memorial Hospital Shiloh, and a flying aircraft scaled-to-size to help actualize the area’s close proximity to Scott Air Force base.
