For Memorial Hospital Shiloh, designing a meaningful and powerful art package meant honoring key organizational focus areas of growth, community, camaraderie, family, and exploration. ARCH Design created a custom art package and collaborated with local and regional artists to create original and compelling pieces that reflected the chosen themes.

For example, dimensionally crafted carved wood pieces from artist Michael Bauermeister depict the theme of growth. Loosely based on the trees in the immediate surrounding environment, this piece evokes the significance of geographical points of interest in Southeastern Illinois. An intricately detailed photorealistic painting from local photographer and painter Jeffery Vaughn reflects the theme of exploration with a scene from a garden path.

Art reflecting the tradition of incorporating local nature and fauna is displayed throughout the onsite medical office building. Photography and fine art pieces help distill a sense of calm and peace found in natural world settings.

Siteman Cancer Center, located on the Memorial Hospital Shiloh medical campus, also features artwork with ties to the surrounding area. Artist Benjamin Lowder created a mandala from 100+ year-old reclaimed wood sourced from the region. Vibrant, custom-painted prairie grasses and reeds found in the Illinois plains are woven into a custom piece echoing Shiloh’s historical ties with botany. Colorful and spritely abstract paintings were commissioned from artist Jessica Hitchcock to welcome patients and visitors in the registration area.
