Belmont Village Senior Living La Jolla

For Belmont Village Senior Living La Jolla, our art consultants took inspiration from the local landscape, regional flora and fauna, and beachy lifestyle. This upscale residence is the epitome of high-end design and hospitality and offers its residents a luxurious and timeless seaside living experience. The 17-story residence combines patterns, textures, and colors that complement the interior finishes, furniture, and even the lighting fixtures. Oversized canvas prints with metallic gold accents appear on nearly every floor of the complex; intricate linework matched with woven components allows the design to drift effortlessly throughout the building.

Upon entry, residents are greeted by several unique mixed-media focal pieces. Behind the reception desk, a color-block canvas is paired with an aluminum panel wrapped in nautical ropes. The panel was custom-cut to create the illusion of the artwork continuing beyond the frame, creating a bright, eye-catching statement piece. A collection of four float-framed plaster and wood sculptures hang above a charming seating area on the adjacent wall. The unique display resembles a zen garden, echoing the movement of seaweed in the waves, contributing to the calm and serene atmosphere. The deep, natural curves carved into the plaster coordinate with the pattern of the colorful carpet, and the rough texture may also remind viewers of a white-sand beach.

Residents are energized by the natural light and smell of fresh coffee in the bistro. The ARCH team designed a custom wall graphic for the soffit above the seating area with illustrations representing the surrounding community and, of course, coffee. Sea lions, seals, and seashells were specifically chosen to highlight Seal Rock, a popular La Jolla attraction. A pair of oversized canvas prints beautifully contrast against a white brick wall in the dining area. Blue splashes of color emulate waves crashing, and hand-embellished metallic accents mimic sunlight reflecting off the sea. Macrame wall hangings were custom-dyed with rich blues and yellows to create an ombre effect resembling the horizon.

In the memory care area, a custom wall graphic maps popular attractions in nearby San Diego. Coastal photography brings residents back to memories of the sea while familiar images of jellyfish and whales swim the halls. A white, metal wall sculpture resembles bubbles as they float to the ocean’s surface. The glass doors in the library bistro open up to a spacious balcony overlooking the city below. Fluttering gold, iron pages move across the wall, pulling the warm breeze felt on the balcony inside. Just down the hall, a collection of circular, textured paintings capture the soft colors of the sea and skyline.

In the main elevator lobby, wall sculptures depict the inner structure of rowboats to bring dimension and variety to the space. Artist Adam Long hand-cut each piece of teakwood used in the intricate design. The sports lounge brings residents right onto the deck of a sailboat with nautical-themed flags and framed prints. The space is designed to spark memories of great times spent sailing on the Pacific Ocean.

Belmont Village La Jolla merges modern design with unexpected elements to achieve a sophisticated and lavish seaside residence. The variety and thoughtful design creates a warm and bright space and allows residents to sit back, relax, and enjoy their own slice of paradise.
